We’ve been working on a schedule that will include discussions and information about the issues we face whether we’ve been reviewing online for years or have just started book blogging. Topics include technology, user experience, revenue opportunities, working with publicists and other people in publishing, blog tours and blog tour operators, organization and efficiency and more. And, if you have a suggestion, we’d love to hear your input!
Here is the schedule for 2015 so far, and please note that the order is subject to change:
11:00 – Luncheon & Introductions (Sarah, SBTB, & Jane, DA)
12:00 – Content: Blog Tours and Guest Spots (Jay, Joyfully Jay)
Blog tours and guest spots are common, and you may receive requests to host authors on your blog. Jay will discuss the pros and cons, how to figure out if participation is right for you, and how to make sure you get the most out of hosting a guest appearance.
12:45 – Revenue: Ads, Affiliate, Business Operation (Sarah & Jane)
From affiliate options to advertisement, ad servers and ad brokers, we’ll break down the options should you wish to monetize your blog now, or someday in the future.
1:30 – Break
1:45 – Technology: Tips, Tricks, Plugins, Design & Organization
There are a bazillion plugins and extras for blogs, whether you’re on WordPress, Blogger, or another content management system. We’ll have suggestions for recommended plugins, tips for organizing content, and ways to make your blog easier to manage.
3:15 – Snack
3:30 – Working with Publishers: Q&A with publicists, and learning about new books for 2015 (Erin Galloway, PenguinRandomHouse; Morgan Doremus, Sourcebooks)
What happens when you receive an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) from a publisher? What are their expectations? What are yours? This panel will feature publishing professionals in marketing and publicity who have years of experience working with bloggers. They welcome candid questions and opportunities for discussion. Plus, they’re going to bring an ARC of an upcoming book they’re very excited about for everyone present, so you can take a copy home.
5:00 – Cocktail Hour (Sponsored Most Excellently by Harlequin)
Yum. Also, delicious. And possibly wine. Cheers!
